(approximately 50% of time)

  • Contribute to achieve the NBD and NPD target set by the Product Group in close cooperation with the respective account teams and R&D project teams.

  • Utilize customer needs dialogue to identify and communicate customer needs and create new product ideas in existing and potential new applications.

  • Plan and execute Application & Technical Service activities within customer projects according to strategy, segmentation and business plans.

  • Understand total cost to serve the customer and actively seek for solutions to improve profitability of the Product Group. In this respect the capability to set-up, participate in and evaluate the results of laboratory, pilot and plant level application trials is important.

  • Perform and organize evaluation and reporting of application trials (lab, pilot, plant). Utilize Equipment Solutions where beneficial.

  • Perform and organize know how creation and customer value propositions.

  • Be the Technical Service Tag (primary technical contact) for key accounts (Partners & Growth Drivers).


(approximately 30% of time)

  • Transfer the customer needs into new ideas and suggestions for new development projects

  • Identify and transfer market trends, competitive solutions & activities, customer needs, new technologies and application know-how into the organization

  • Contribute to the development of new products and solutions by assuming the role of technical lead in identified projects, and contribute to IP creation and protection

  • Support the Product Group in strategic planning and strategy implementation by providing input on market drivers, future customer expectations and technologies to allow sustainable & profitable growth

  • Perform and organize evaluation and reporting of application trials (lab, pilot, plant) – utilize Equipment Solutions where beneficial

  • Support the creation of presentation materials and apply these for customer presentations or at technical meetings / symposia

  • Validate new/amended products (incl. value proposition) prior to market introduction

  • Perform and organize know how creation and customer value propositions


(approximately 20% of time)

  • Develop and support know how generation in industrial application areas: Cargill and competitive products, customer process and raw material/chemical usage, new technologies/concepts, raw materials and processes

  • Training of co-workers, colleagues within the own businesses as well as customers’ employees

  • Identify product development opportunities and communicate to the product development organization

  • Contribute to ideas generation - I2I process (suggestions, evaluations)

  • Contribute to intellectual property generation/protection

  • Accept a position as project member when appropriate


Required Qualifications

  • University degree in science or technology, (bio-)chemistry, engineering, paper engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum 10 years work experience, preferably in the Industrial space

  • Experience with working in a multi-national/ multi-cultural environment

  • Experience with working in a large organization, with a matrix structure

  • Flexible attitude, open for change

  • Team player – good collaborator

  • Strong communication skills

  • Prioritization / time management

  • Business fluent English language skills, written and verbal

  • Strong language skills in Spanish a/o Italian

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior relationships with key customers in the European (Bio-)Industrial Industry

  • Starch related product knowledge and/or commercial experience

  • Knowledge of relevant industrial application categories

  • Ability to translate industry/ market trends into new opportunities and solutions for existing and new customers/ markets (preferably through Jobs-to-be-done)

  • Ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of the competition and develop solution strategies

  • Well founded experience in one of the main application areas (paper, corrugating, bio-industrial)

  • Hands-on experience in the field of introducing new products at prospective or existing customers

  • Laboratory and/or pilot plant experience

  • Pro-active approach towards customers/ markets

  • Innovative, pro-active, creative and receptive to new ideas

  • Strong presentation skills for representing Cargill internally and externally

  • PC literacy
